What a Way to Go

Blog:

Let me start off by saying Yikes. This whole entire series I kinda hopped back and forth between who I wanted to win the championship. I would normally pick the team that was down in the series because I just enjoy watching NBA ball. The more games before the off season the better right? November is a long lonely ways away folks.

I wanted the Lakers to win mainly because I didn't think they had a chance. I was surprised they came out on top of the West and when they decisively won every playoff series, they kinda made me a believer.

On the other hand, I wanted the Celtics to win because of the feel good story they had strapped to their backs all season. I mean the trade was huge and there was also the passing of Red Auerbach. Garnette, Pierce, and Allen don't have a ring and they were pegged with monster pressure to turn this team into a contender for years to come. Not only did they finish with the best record in the LEAGUE, the won the whole shebang. Furthermore, Not only did they win it all, they did it in a way that should have come accompanied with a parental advisory.

92 - 131 is dirty....very very dirty.

They had this one in the bag early and I kept putting myself in Kobe and Phil Jackson's shoes almost feeling bad for what they had to endure. I mean, watching the Celtics bench start to celebrate with 10 minutes left in the fourth has got to sting. I wondered why Phil kept Kobe out there with 2.5 minutes left when the were down by 30. I guess he was feeling pretty crappy about losing his first ever championship after making it to the finals and wanted Kobe to feel just as bad. Who knows.....

All in all it was a bad ass finals. Congratulations to the Boston Celtics for winning the Championship and props go out to the Los Angeles Lakers and the NBA for putting on a great show. I was swept up in the rivalry of old (even though I was probably about 4 years old at the time) and all the story lines that developed throughout the series (minus the referee allegation from 2002).

I guess now there's the draft and off season trades, training camp and pre-season to look forward to. Thanks again for dropping by.

Cheers,

Jared
